Let’s Chill in Fujairah

When visiting a new place, you could choose to have a typical holiday and visit the most popular, well-known tourist destinations or you could opt to tread the off-beaten path. This article is just for you if you chose the latter!

The United Arab Emirates is a union of seven political constituents, called emirates, with Abu Dhabi as the capital. The other emirates include Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm al-Quwain, and Ras al-Kahimah. Fujairah stands out by being the only emirate that has a coastline on the Gulf of Oman and not on the Persian Gulf.

Fujairah – The Mountain Emirate

The Hajar Mountains cut off Fujairah from the other emirates in the UAE. It is the only Emirate whose coastline is exclusively on the Gulf of Oman and is the fifth largest (out of seven) Emirate in the UAE. Well-known as the place with the oldest mosque in the UAE, it also has a higher-than-average yearly rainfall of the UAE, which allows farmers to grow ONE crop a year. It is also the only Emirate to be almost completely mountainous.

The weather in Fujairah is better than the other Emirates because of the Hajar Mountains surrounding it. This brings enough rainfall to the area so it isn’t excessively hot. The best time to visit is from October to March.

Fujairah is well-known for its daily shipping operations on a large scale since it also functions as a minor bunkering port.
