Ras Al Khaimah
Nestled in the northernmost part of the UAE, Ras al-Khaimah, often simply called RAK, has begun to rival Dubai in its appeal. Built during the 16th century on a hill that faces the Persian Gulf, Dhayah Fort is a spot you will love to photograph during sunsets and show off to your friends. It is an edifice made of mud-brick and is historically significant as it was used as a military tower in the war between the British and the natives. From here, you can also enjoy the panoramic view of the ruins of other forts on the south.
Jabal Jais Mountain
Whether you are adventure-loving or the laid-back type who loves to take in the beautiful scenery, Jabal Jais mountain can fulfil your needs. With a height of 1910m, it is the tallest mountain in the UAE and is part of the Ras al Khaimah mountains of Hajar. You will have a wonderful driving experience owing to the smooth, snaking roads leading up this mountain. Out of all the things to do in Ras Al Khaimah, this is great for the outdoorsy travellers.
Jazirat Al Hamra Fishing Village
Another historical hotspot to visit during your Ras Al Khaimah tourism is the ghostly town of Jazirat al Hamra. It is one of the abandoned villages of the past, whose people had lived on fishing and pearling. Since visitors are not allowed inside, you can peep through the fence at what is left of wind towers and mosques, old houses, and coral houses.
